SUDAN PROJECT UPDATE

by the Chairman of the Board of Frontline Fellowship

Dear Praying Friends

The Mission last month to Loziland, Zambia was tough but triumphant. In my Navy days we'd call it a "shake-down cruise." The crew learn to work together. You test men and material for the battle ahead. This past month John, Mike, Hunter and Daniel have been repairing and preparing to take two trucks with trailers full of vital supplies to newly independent South Sudan. This is a time-sensitive event at the birth of a new nation.

The Muslims destroyed bridges in the South during the decade’s long war. Crossing rivers requires each of our vehicles to have a snorkel fitted for the diesel engine to breathe while under water. Winches are needed to pull them out of mud and crocodile-infested rivers when they're stuck. Heavy-duty springs are essential for the large loads and rough roads. An extra fuel tank is necessary for travelling in areas where fuel is unavailable. Not to have this kind of equipment in that kind of environment is fool-hearty, and risks men, machines and materials.

To achieve the twin goal of ministry and supply a minimum of two, 2-man teams are needed. "Two are better than one, because...if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!" Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. Each of the four men have unique gifts that they bring to this twin-team and Zambia proved they work well together.

Current status : One truck is loaded and ready to roll. It has an off-road 4-wheel, 2-axel trailer with a 1.5 ton capacity. The second truck needs a similar trailer, a snorkel, winch, heavy duty springs and an extra fuel tank. The work needs to be completed this week and $12,500 to cover these upgrade costs. We had hoped the teams could be on their way right now, but a crippling shortage of funds is delaying their departure.

Prayer target for the bottom line: Frontline Fellowship needs approximately $20,000 to cover total costs of equipment for the second vehicle and the diesel fuel for the two-month, 12,000-mile round-trip. We thought you'd want to know. Thank you for praying.

Yours in His grip,

Rev. Bill Bathman
Chairman of the Board
