From the Chairman of the Board of Frontline Fellowship PDF Print E-mail

Dear Team

Perhaps you have noticed over the years, that our Director does not make strong appeals for money. Fact is, I cannot remember Peter ever making any appeal for support. So let me share something Dr. Peter Hammond does not tell you. Let me take you behind the scenes in last Monday's Staff Meeting:

Reports were presented from each of the various ministries under the Frontline umbrella of Missions – Literature 4 Africa, Africa Christian Action, Christian Liberty Books, Reformation 500 FIRE and Livingstone Fellowship, to name just a few. Routine overheads for all these basic Mission operational costs, including 18 full-time staff support, is $20,000 per month. During the past months there has been a serious shortfall of income resulting in available funds being insufficient to meet all obligations, even with the most severe budget cuts.

Despite everyone working full-tilt during the past very busy months, at their specific ministries, while at the same time being involved in a multitude of Missionary and Evangelistic outreach opportunities presented to Frontline locally, in and around Cape Town, financial support has been dropping.

Peter has exhausted all his personal savings to sustain the ministries activities. For over two months his son Christopher's motor scooter has been in the workshop after he was knocked off his bike. As they do not even have the funds to pay for the repairs to enable their son to be mobile again, much time has been taken up transporting him to his sporting events. Even savings for Christopher's kidney and Lenora's cancer medical emergencies have been exhausted, to enable the Mission to continue operating. Peter has never taken any royalties for any of the 50 books and manuals he has authored. Any proceeds from these publications are ploughed back into the Mission.

There are vital printing projects waiting for funds to authorize production. Peter trusts the Lord for all the Missions needs. Without a massive infusion of funds by the end of the month he will have to let most of his key Mission workers go, and with them all the time and treasure spent in recruiting, selecting and training will be down-the-drain – not to mention lost windows of opportunities for Mission programs, already scheduled, that will have to be cancelled.

Plans were discussed at the staff meeting for upcoming Missions. Peter and the team leave on Saturday (24 Aug.) for a Mission station in Mpumalanga, the Eastern Transvaal, 2,100 km from Cape Town, near the border with Mozambique. This is followed by Peter's annual week of Great Commission Course ministry (for the past 5 years) at Back to the Bible Training College, where there are 126 pastors in training from 18 countries around Africa, in a 3-year training program. David, fresh from Missions to Zimbabwe and Zambia, will be joining him bringing pre-positioned books for the library, students and faculty, as well as Training Manuals and exam papers.

This will be followed by a weekend Biblical Worldview Seminar in Nelspruit, then a week of Muslim Evangelism lectures at the Africa School of Missions. Followed by more Mission outreaches across the border. Frontline's Africa Overland Mission team is in Uganda, in their sixth month in the field. They have already completed 350 meetings throughout Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and South Sudan.

Everyone can respond to the Great Commission in his, or her, own individual way. If you are not personally able to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel" perhaps you would like to say to some of your dollars, "Go ye for me…" In Frontline Fellowship we firmly believe that God has promised to supply all our needs. Right now our needs are urgent. We thought you would want to know. Please join us in prayer and in expectation of His answer – and we will all rejoice and praise the Lord together.

Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the many supporters who have through prayer, encouragement and their own financial sacrifice, enabled the Gospel to be preached and lives to be changed over the years. It is a privilege to be in partnership with you and to share the vision of Africa for Christ. Thank You.

Yours in His grip,
