“WHAT’S WRONG WITH PAGANISM?”
Dear Friend
Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Thank you very much for your letter on our Paganisation of South Africa article on the Christian Action website.
Your critical feedback is appreciated.
According to the Webster’s Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language, a pagan is “one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion” or “a person who is not a Christian, Jew or Muslim” or “an irreligious or hedonistic person…worshipper of false gods…heathen…”
Webster’s defines paganism as “pagan spirit or attitude in religious or moral questions. The beliefs or practices of pagans. The state of being a pagan.”
The whole point of the article was that previously unacceptable, and even illegal, activities such as abortion, pornography, prostitution and witchcraft were now being legalized and even promoted by government. Pornography and prostitution are two sides of the same coin. Pornography is the theory, rape is the practice. There is no doubt that the legalization of such vices as pornography and gambling do fuel crime and violence.
May I recommend that you read another article of ours on the www.christianaction.org.za website on The Christian Liberation of Women. That would illustrate just one aspect of the dramatic difference that Christianity made by superceding paganism in the past, and the dangers of a return to paganism.
Should you be interested to discuss these matters further I would be willing to do so, whether by correspondence or personally if you are in the Cape Town area.
May the Lord continue to lead you into all Truth.
Yours for Faith and Freedom
